The Carney Improvement Association is a "community" association, not to be confused with a "homeowners" association.  We don't care what kind of fence you want or the color of your roof.  Our existence is to help make Carney and its surrounding communities a better place in which to live, work, and shop. We fully interact with the various Baltimore County and Maryland agencies, as well as other communities in the area, and act as a hub for residents in solving problems concerning everything from traffic complaints to zoning issues. Our goal is to improve and stabilize the quality of life for our residents and businesses.

Simply put, Carney is comprised of the area from I-695 to the south, Old Harford Road to the west, The Big Gunpowder Falls to the north, and Furguson Road and Walther Boulevard to the east.

Some of the C.I.A.'s recent accomplishments have been the involvement in and adoption of the Joppa Road Corridor Plan, which will improve zoning, planning, and traffic issues along Joppa Road, and our involvement with the adoption of the Traffic Calming Bill, a resource available to communities suffering from traffic safety issues.
