present: President Mike Rupp,
Secretary Marilyn Ryan, Recording Secretary Joanne Krause and Sergeant at Arms
Tim Caslin.
Officers absent: Vice President Meg O'Hare and Treasurer Mary Eck
Acknowledgement
of distinguished guests: Police
Capt. Lee Russo, Commander of the White Marsh and Parkville precincts.
Because
of time restraints on Capt. Russo, he
gave his update on last month's
meeting at this point. Since last
month, radar was set up on Glenside Avenue and Sixth Avenue and 141 citations
were issued along with warnings. Some
of the residents in this area were among those cited.
On several occasions, unmarked police cars were used.
He stated they will continue monitoring and enforcement.
During this discussion, a resident from Glenside presented her
independent study which showed an average of 28 mph during the time of her
study. It was noted that no
police presence was seen on Second Avenue between Harford Road and Avondale nor
on Summit Avenue between Harford and Joppa Roads.
It was also suggested the police monitor Carney Road and Second Avenue .
A resident who lives at Bright Oak and Mageldt Roads cited a problem at
this intersection and President Rupp said he would contact the Highway
Department about the trees and telephone pole that obliterate the sight line.
At
last month's meeting, it was proposed that residents obtain tag numbers of
speeders to pass along to the Police Department directly or to the Association
to present at court appearances. A
motion was made by Joanne Krause, seconded by Geraldine Gordon, that the
Association be given the tag numbers and draft the letters.
