Committee Reports:

A.            Membership:  Mike Rupp reported that the membership list has been finalized and  it was circulated among the attendees for any corrections or additions.

  B.         Zoning:  President Trageser reported there is no new information on Greenhouse Place. Regarding the Burton/Chatman property (Magledt Road), there is a Hearing Officer's Hearing  and a Zoning Commissioner's Hearing scheduled for October 17, 2002.   Ruth Baisden presented a copy of the development plan and discussed issues of concern to both the CIA and the GPCC regarding "panhandles", open space and the variance pertaining to side yards.  She noted that the Office of Planning does not support "panhandles".  The CIA supports the open space concept, is against "panhandles", and opposes the variance.

Unfinished Business:

Regarding the Joppa Road Corridor Study,  President Trageser said there is a rumor about a request for a bus line on Joppa Road.  He read a letter from County Councilman Vince Gardina  saying that neither he nor the Joppa Road Corridor Study Committee has recommended such a bus line.

Regarding the Joppa Road traffic study, it was the opinion of President Trageser that it was botched.  There were no accident, cut-through, or speed studies done.  The County has agreed to go back and do these studies.

A planning committee is being formed for the annual holiday tree lighting on December 8 at the Carney Elementary School and volunteers are needed.  Justin Wandres volunteered to get out fliers through the PTA.  Joyce Trageser is heading up the committee.

Regarding our request for a light at Carney Elementary School during school hours, Daryl Wiles, Director of Traffic for the County, said none is being considered at this time.

Mary Sue Rooney has issued the October newsletter "The Informer".
