MEETING MINUTES

November 20, 2002

LINDEN HEIGHTS METHODIST CHURCH

 

Meeting called to order at  7:10 p.m. with 18 members present.

  Officers present were:  President Chip Trageser, Vice President Romi Shah, Secretary Marilyn Ryan, Recording Secretary Joanne Krause and Treasurer Ann Briggeman.

  Also present was Jennifer Przydial, reporter for the Northeast Reporter.

  Minutes of previous meeting read by Recording Secretary Joanne Krause.  Motion to approve minutes was made by Joyce Trageser, seconded by Pat Rooney.  Motion approved.

 


Treasurer's Report:

 

September ending balance was $970.79

October deposits were $437.00

October expenses were as follows:

 50/50 winner - $132.50

 Web site - $19.95

 Printing - $16.80

Total October expenses were $169.25

October ending balance was $1238.54

November deposits to date were $230.00

November expenses to date were $10.48

November balance to date is $1458.06

 


Committee Reports:

 

A.            Membership:  Mike Rupp reported that renewal notices for dues have been  sent and some dues are coming in.  We need to distribute more membership applications.

B.         Zoning:  A Development Plan Conference and Hearing Officer's Hearing on the Burton/Chapman property is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2002 in Room 106, 111 W. Chesapeake Avenue, Towson.  There is to be a Pre-concept Plan Conference to be scheduled regarding plans to build 21 homes on 12th Avenue.


Unfinished Business:

 

A.  Veterans Memorial:  President Trageser read a note of thanks from the Sollanek family and enclosing a donation of $100.  The problem with the bricks has been solved and they will be in place soon.  On Veterans Day, the Sons of the American Legion held a service there.  The Boy Scouts have planted 150 daffodil bulbs and the benches will be coming shortly.  Mike Rupp reported that the plaque for Terry Sollanek has been ordered.

B.  Update on the Joppa Road Corridor Study:  Pat Rooney attended the November 19 meeting.  He reported that committees are being formed.  He said the County was vague about the traffic calming issue. It was noted that the State wants to see the continuation of Walther Boulevard.  He also said the County does not support MTA buses but may support a shuttle service.

C.  Holiday Tree Lighting:  Joyce Trageser reported on the progress of the committee to date.  There were 200 letters mailed to business soliciting ads to be placed in a program booklet.  We are asking for attendees to bring a donation of canned goods for the needy.  Meg Ryan has received the Christmas sign made at Oak Crest.  Volunteers are to meet at noon, Saturday, December 7 to decorate the tree and set up for Sunday.  There will be a short meeting after the general meeting for those wishing to participate.

  Ruth Baisden, of the GPCC, issued an invitation to their December 12 holiday meeting at 7 p.m. at the Morningside Assisted Living facility.

  It was announced that the Police Council meeting is scheduled for November 21 and  anyone is welcome to attend.

Next meeting is December 18, 2002 at the Carney Elementary School.

Recording Secretary Joanne Krause made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mike Rupp.  Motion passed.  Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
