MEETING MINUTES

May 16, 2002

BRIGHTVIEW ASSISTED LIVING


Meeting called to order at  7:15 p.m. with  19 members present.

Officers present were  President Chip Trageser, Vice President Romi Shah, Secretary Marilyn Ryan, Recording Secretary Joanne Krause, Treasurer Ann Briggeman and Sergeant at Arms Meg O'Hare.

Distinguished guests were: Jennifer Przydzial, from the Northeast Reporter, Chrissy Nizer from Delegates Ports' and Redmers' office, and Kathy Klausmeier.   Also present was Wayne DeFinbaug who is running for the State Central Committee.

Minutes of previous meeting read by Recording Secretary Joanne Krause.

Motion to approve minutes was made by Norma Briggeman and seconded by  Joyce Trageser. Motion approved.

 


Treasurer's Report:                      

 

Previous balance was $570.08

Deposits were $10.00

Expenses were $176.43

Current balance is $403.65

The money for the Veterans Memorial is in a separate account.

 


Committee Reports:

 

A.            Veterans Memorial:  Terry Sollanek reported that the grant check has been received; the plaque is back; the area landscaped; problems with the school have been resolved; media notified; and the dedication is set for Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m.  Volunteers should report between 9-9:15 a.m. 

 

B.            Membership:  Mike Rupp is working on sending out letters to old members.

 

C.        Zoning:  Ruth Baisden, GPCC, reported that a list of community concerns were presented to the developer of Greenhouse Place.  It was noted that the Country Plant store property has been sold.  Regarding the Magledt Road property (originally to be used for an assisted living facility), it is now to be the site of 20 homes.  Marilyn Ryan reported that Mr. Escalante's Circuit Court appeal hearing is scheduled for July 17 but his attorney is asking for a delay. 

 

D.            Fundraising:  Raffle tickets for the September drawing are available.

 


Unfinished Business:

 

President Trageser reported there was a large turnout for the April 25 Joppa Road Corridor Study meeting.  Three subcommittees are being formed concerning traffic, land use, and streetscaping.  He urged everyone to sign up for a committee.  He is working with Councilman Gardina on organizing this study.

 

The proposed changes to the Bylaws and Constitution were read..  Motion was made by Marilyn Ryan, and seconded by Pat Rooney, to accept these changes.  Motion passed.

 

The holiday tree lighting committee is now forming.  Oakcrest has made us a Christmas Tree sign.

 

Ruth Baisden discussed the latest developments on the Harford Road streetscape.  She also explained the "Neighbor Space" program and reported on the traffic calming meeting of May 16.

 


New Business:

 

The Perry Hall Fair is scheduled for July 6 and volunteers are needed to man our booth.

 


Closing Activity:

 

Joyce Trageser  won the monthly drawing of $18.00 which she gave back to the association.

 


Announcements:

 

A new meeting night was proposed for the third Wednesday of the month.  The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18.  Location to be announced.

Motion to adjourn made by Joanne Krause, seconded by Terry Sollanek.  Motion passed.  Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
