MEETING MINUTES

April 18, 2002

CARNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 


Meeting called to order at 7:15 p.m.  with  25  members present.

  Officers present were  President Chip Trageser, Vice President Romi Shah, Secretary Marilyn Ryan, Recording Secretary Joanne Krause, and Sergeant at Arms Meg O'Hare.  

  Distinguished guests were Councilman Wayne Skinner, Greenhouse Place representatives Dick Matz and John Clark, and Reporter Laura Beitman of the Northeast Reporter.

  Minutes of previous meeting were read by Recording Secretary Krause. Motion to approve minutes was made by Joyce Trageser and seconded by Pat Sollanek.  Motion approved.

 


Treasurer's Report:                      

 (as of  April 17, 2002)

Previous balance was $636.79

Deposits were $268.00

Expenses were $334.71

Current balance is $570.08

 


Committee Reports:

 

A.            Veterans Memorial:  Terry Sollanek reported that the plaque is being refurbished in Ohio and 27 bricks have been sold.  We are waiting for the grant check. 

 

B.            Membership:  Mike Rupp has a new database and is working on membership.

 

C.        Zoning:  The representatives from Greenhouse Place will address the meeting.

 

D.            Fundraising:  50/50 raffle tickets are available.  Drawing to be in September.

 


Unfinished Business:

 

Joyce Trageser reported on the success of the Easter Egg Hunt.  She received good feedback and if anyone has suggestions for next year let her know.

 


New Business:

 

The East Joppa Road corridor study meeting is set for Thursday, April 25, 7 p.m., at Christus Victor Church, 9833 Harford Road.

  There are some proposed Constitution and Bylaws amendments being studied.  Sould be resolved by next general meeting.

  A planning committee is needed for this year's holiday tree lighting.  Volunteers are needed.

  Councilman Wayne Skinner addressed the meeting.  He noted his past experiences as Councilman and community activist.  He talked about issues of concern to him and the community and how he would address them.  He handed out a copy of the new Councilmanic Districts for 2002 and answered questions from members.

  Representatives from Greenhouse Place addressed the meeting and provided a blueprint of the proposed retail strip center.  They noted some changes that were made to the last proposal, such as, one building instead of two, 20 thousand square feet instead of 17.   The association prepared a list of concerns to be addressed by the developers.

 


Closing Activity:

 

Terry Sollanek won the drawing of $10.00 which he will use for the Veterans Memorial.

 


Announcements:

 

The next meeting is May 16, 2002 at a different location:  Brightview Assisted Living Facility, 1800 Rossville Boulevard, in the main dining room.

Motion to adjourn made by Pat Sollanek, seconded by Norma Briggeman.  Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.
