Committee Reports:

A.            Veterans Memorial:  Terry Sollanek reported that letters regarding the sale of "memorial bricks"  were being sent.  There are 320 bricks to be sold at $25.00 with space for inscriptions.  There is the possibility that the Boy Scouts will make wooden benches for that area.  The dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 18.  Details will be forthcoming.

B.         Zoning:   Meg O'Hare reported that, according to Councilman Bartenfelder's office, no community input meeting was necessary regarding Walgreens.  Regarding the Escalante property, Marilyn Ryan reported that he has filed an appeal with the Circuit Court. She spoke to the People's Counsel representative who informed her that since no official member of the CIA was at the original hearing, we have no standing in this matter.  Marilyn Ryan testified at the original hearing as a "resident."

C.            Fundraising:  The drawing for the weekend getaway to St. Michaels will be drawn tonight.

Unfinished Business:

We are still in the process of working on proposed changes to the By-laws.   One current proposal deals with dues assessments.  Several suggestions are being considered.  Any other suggestions are welcome.

The next "streetscape" meeting is scheduled for March 5 tentatively at the VFW Hall on Harford Road.  Meg O'Hare volunteered to attend.  All others are welcome to attend.

The second annual Easter egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 23.  Joyce Trageser sent out letters to area business asking for donations.  The Old Country Buffet has donated eggs containing prizes.  Volunteers are needed for Saturday and also to stuff the other eggs which will be done the night of the next meeting, March 21.

New Business:

President Trageser and Vice President Shah visited some of the area businesses looking for new members and to discuss the "streetscape" project.  Chapman's Hair has applied for membership.  Anyone showing their CIA membership card will get a 10% discount.  It was suggested that we go door-to-door handing out membership applications.

We have again received a request from the Parkville High School for a donation for their Senior Party.  Pat Sollanek made a motion, seconded by Joyce Trageser, to donate $25.00.  Motion passed.

Meg O'Hare volunteered to follow zoning issues for the CIA.

Director Mike Rupp reported on his attendance at a meeting discussing the implementation of the Hickey School's automatic dial system to be used to notify neighbors of any problems at the school.  Mike Rupp suggested that we might consider a similar set-up for the CIA.  His computer has that capability.

Ruth Basiden of the GPCC spoke on the proposal for the County to establish a local NeighborSpace-type program.  The Planning Board will vote on the proposal at its meeting on March 7.

Closing Activity:

The drawing for the weekend getaway was won by Ruth Krause of Highlandtown.   Joyce Trageser donated her winnings of $24.00 to the CIA.
