MEETING MINUTES

NOVEMBER 15, 2001

CARNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

Meeting called to order at  7:15 p.m. with  15  members present.

Officers present:  President Mike Rupp, Vice President Meg O'Hare, Treasurer Mary Eck and Recording Secretary Joanne Krause. 

Officers absent:   Secretary Marilyn Ryan and Sergeant at Arms Tim Caslin.

 


Minutes of previous meeting read by Meg O'Hare.

Motion to approve minutes was made by  Justin Wandres  and seconded by  Terry Sollanek.  Motion passed. 

 


Treasurer's Report:

 

Previous balance was $237.83

Deposits were $1089.00

Expenses were $510.20

Current balance is $816.63

 

Justin Wandres made a motion to approve, seconded by Pat Sollanek.  Motion approved.

                                                


Outgoing President Mike Rupp expressed his thanks and appreciation for everyone's support during his incumbency and what he saw as the future of the association.  He pledged his continued participation in the CIA.  He made a motion that a committee be established  for the newsletter..  Motion seconded by Meg O'Hare.  Motion passed.


                                                

Committee Reports:

 

            A.            Veterans Memorial:  Terry Sollanek reported that a request has been made to the State for a grant to help in this project.

 

            B.            Membership:  Mary Eck asked that everyone check the expiration date on their dues cards.  Mike Rupp said he would work with Mary on membership.

 

           C.              Zoning:   In Tim Caslin's absence, Mike Rupp reported on the following:

 

                        Walgreen's - No info.  It was reported that properties on this site are being demolished.

                        3015 E. Joppa Road (Tim's Auto) - Zoning hearing held; approved with certain requirements.

                        3106 Sixth Avenue (Mr. Escalante) - Pending ruling by Zoning.

                        MTA No. 19 Study - MTA is planning a study to review this bus line which serves Harford Road.

            D.            Fundraising:  Chip Trageser looked into a package deal at the Harbourtowne Golf & Conference Center in St. Michaels, MD, which would also include a $50.00 gift certificate to a restaurant in Easton, MD, for a raffle.  It would have to be used by April 1, 2002.  It was suggested that 500 tickets be printed to sell at $2.00.  Mike Rupp made a motion to approve; seconded by Justin Wandres.  Motion passed.

 


Unfinished Business:

 

Mary Sue Rooney said the first quarterly newsletter has been issued.

 


New Business:

 

Volunteers are needed to help with the 3rd Annual Holiday Treelighting to be held December 9.  Mike Rupp would like anyone volunteering to e-mail him.  The tree will be decorated the first weekend in December.  Refreshments are needed.

 

Mike Rupp proposed we consider the following changes to the CIA Constitution/By-Laws:

 

        1.    Dues to be $10.00 per member - not per family.

        2.   All dues to be renewed the same month.  April was suggested.

        3.  Election of officers and board members to be held in January.

Closing Activity:

 

Police Officer Pat Rooney reported on the recent criminal activity in our area and stressed our need to be aware of suspicious activity.

 

Norma Briggeman donated her winnings of $22.00 to the Association.

 


Announcements:

 

Next meeting is December 20, 2001 at 7 p.m.
